You are an excellent waitress!

In anticipation of having the Spooncat!Horns back with us this weekend, I've gone into the archives and dolled up a couple old gems.

Around Halloween weekend of 1999 we played at The Rock (now The Varsity Pub, I think) in Marshall, Minnesota, a favorite spot of ours. This turned out to be an exceptionally intense performance, what with the vocoder and all.

For free download from our DMusic page are versions of Half and Breathe In, which demonstrate the ballistic nature of the evening, which was further catalyzed by the excellent waitress.

The weekend...

The Hegg Bros. (a moniker that in THIS case means Jonathon and Jeremy) will be performing a whole bevy of duo material out at Stogeez this weekend, Friday and Saturday, 9 to close. You know what that means!

(hint: our special version of the theme from "Magnum, P. I.")

the big storm

There was a big storm in my neighborhood yesterday. I took pictures. You can see some of them here.

!:.

We've been downsizing here at Spooncat International. While projects and gigs may carry the everchanging punctuation, we'll just keep it simple for you folks. The website has changed a bit and will continue to do so. The albums-in-progress have been removed as promised (thanks Russ, you'll get a free copy of the mastered versions before they're released). In their place a few more Halloween tracks have been added. We are on to the T.V. themes. And word has it that the lovely Jay Janssen is sending us a copy of his DAT recording of our first Halloween show: the medley from side two of Abbey Road. A picture of the band prior to that night's gig adorns the home page of our website. We were in a Lincoln phase. We got shot singing We Are The World to end the night. By Dr. Barkey. And played dead motionless on the carpet of Phil's Pub until everybody left. The good ol' days.

Dateline Hy-Vee: June 4, in the morning...

...when I definitely looked like I WASN'T coming from church. The funny thing is, I spent most of the rest of the day in a suit...

A couple of good tunes for the grocery shopping today: "Peg" by Steely Dan, featuring the help of backup vocalist Michael McDonald, and "Best Of My Love" by the Emotions, featuring the help of Maurice White and most of the players in Earth, Wind & Fire.

the American Redux

Word got to me last night from Jonathon Edward that we have successfully transferred the contents of the 2-inch tapes from the American Jiggler sessions to digital files.

What this means is that now, for the first time since World War II, this album will be remixed by Jonathon Edward and myself.

You can listen to the original album at spooncat.com.
